Hardcover books are constructed in a variety of ways. Cover material can range from uncoated paper to laminated labels and cloth. The text pages are either perfectbound or stitched in folios as in traditional bookbinding.
Good quality hardcover books are produced economically using digital technology and the perfectbinding process. Typically, the covers are printed on label stock and then laminated or UV coated before wrapping to make a case. Alternately, there is a wide range of book cloth choices including bonded leather in a rainbow of colors.
Judeco uses a durable mdf substrate for all our hardcovers. This material ensures that our book covers will not warp over time. We use heat and pressure together with a special adhesive to bond the cover material to the bookboard and we double reinforce the hinge joints to produce a hardcover that will last a lifetime.
The text block is glued to a textile saddle which is in turn glued to the inside of the case and covered with 80# dull white endsheets.
