EAN is an acronym for European Article Number. It also now stands for International Article number.
An ISBN is unique number assigned to a specific form of a specific book title. It is encoded in the EAN numbering system so that it can be expressed in terms of a standard barcode.
This standard product tracking system is needed in order to identify a specific book. It is absolutely required in order to market work through book retailers both online and in stores.
Judeco can issue and assign ISBNs. The price is $75 which includes an electronic EAN barcode. Unique ISBNs are needed for each type of binding, and for ebooks and audio versions of the same book.
NOTE: You only need an ISBN and a barcode if you intend to market your work through traditional channels.
